School Records Fall at Rossi RelaysPublished by
CLAREMONT, Calif. Two school records fell and four Cougar student-athletes won individual events in the 19th-annual Rossi Relays on Saturday. The men's outdoor track & field team was competing for the first time this season and the women's indoor team was working out the kinks before heading off to the NAIA Indoor National Championships next week.Both the men's and women's distance medley teams set new school standards. The women's team of Cristen Lane, Genevieve Grigore, Charlotte Kuzminsky and Kate Bouvatte ran 12:08.56, 1.07 seconds faster than the previous record of 12:09.63 set in 2013 at the Rossi Relays.The men's distance medley team of Steven Ing, Alex Gronotte, Justin Washington and Zach Laurenzana posted 10:07.9, besting a 10-year old record. The mark of 10:10.57 had stood since Feb. 26, 2005 and was also ran at the Rossi Relays.Brittney Hollie won the 100-meter hurdles with a NAIA "B" standard time of 14.85, nearly a second faster than the runner up.On the men's side, Kyle Johnson finished first with a time of 15.16 in the 100-meter high hurdles.Andrew Tellames won the 3000-meters with a time of 8:36.67.Josh Maffei won the javelin throw with a mark of 59.67 meters.
