Franklin and Rake Produce Long Throws Before NCAA First Round is Postponed for Inclement WeatherPublished by
Two UCSB throwers were the first to compete at the NCAA West Regional. SR Melissa Rake placed fifth in the second flight and currently sits in seventh overall after releasing the second best throw of her career, 156-0 feet. SO Jeremy Franklin increased his hammer best to 202'4, also placing fifth in his respective second flight and tenth overall. As the third flights of each event were about to take place a severe thunderstorm rolled into Lawrence and marked the end of the first day or competition as the weather window never returned to Rock Chalk Park Thursday.
