Isayan, Cougars Dominate at Cougar Challenge

Comments

SAN MARCOS, Calif. The Cal State San Marcos men's cross country team swept the top three collegiate spots at the 9th Annual Cougar Challenge on Saturday morning, winning the event for the fifth straight year. Vahagn Isayan, Joshua Litwiller and Easton Tackett led the charge for the Cougars in the final regular season race of the season. Cal State San Marcos scored 22 points (1-2-3-6-10) to top runner-up Biola, currently ranked No. 9 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), by 38 points. "It was a great performance," said head coach Steve Scott. "We have a lot of freshmen who are getting used to 8K (races) I think finally we saw that jump this week. It was a great team effort and a great preparation for conference championships." Isayan finished first among collegiate runners with a time of 25:16, followed closely by freshman Joshua Litwiller, who finished second with a personal-best time of 25:17.
