Cross Country Starts Season at UCSBPublished by
Westmont Cross Country started the season by traveling across town for the UC Santa Barbara Lagoon meet with UCSB and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Both the ninth-ranked women and the twelfth-ranked men finished third in team scoring.
The Warriors' top finisher in the women's 5,000 meters was freshman Jessica Meyers of Solvang who placed eleventh in a time of 18:29. Junior Amber Collier took fifteenth place in a time of 18:40 while senior Danica Rosendale came in twenty-second in a time of 19:13. Sophomore Corinne Cherne placed twenty-fourth with a time of 19:20. Freshman Piper Bain completed the scoring for the Warriors with a twenty-seventh place finish and a time of 19:48.
In the men's 8,000 meter race, junior Evan Bradford was the Warriors' top finisher, placing nineteenth in a time of 26:24. Jake Jeanson completed the course around the lagoon in a time of 27:03 to take twenty-eighth place. Daniel Erickson, Matt Day and Jack Rogan crossed the line in thirty-sixth through thirty-eighth place with times of 27:47, 28:35 and 30:15 respectively.
