Stuart Tears up Two TracksPublished by
Senior Kate Stuart had a busy day on Thursday competing in races in two different venues on the same day.
Her day started in Walnut where she competed in the 1500 meters at the Mount San Antonio College Relays. Stuart finished second in the tenth section of the race in a time of 4:31.21 before joining her teammates at the Twilight Open at Cal State Los Angeles.
"At Mt. SAC, Kate ran from the front and led for all but 40 meters," said Westmont head coach Russell Smelley. "She ran a new school record - a very valiant, strong race. She came back at Cal State LA and ran a 2:16.72 in the 800 for a top-ten all-time best performance for Westmont. It was a real nice double for her."
Freshman Elysia Hodges also had a good day competing in two races - though both at Cal State LA.
"Elysia had another good day with her 400, 200 double," said Smelley. "She tied exactly her 200 best. That was very good."
