The Kids Are Alright: Freshmen Lead the Cougar Charge at SF State InvitePublished by
SAN FRANCISCO There is a youth movement taking place in the Cal State San Marcos women's and men's cross country teams as freshmen Rachel Brady and Steven Terris led the squads to top-five team finishes at the San Francisco State Invitational on Friday afternoon. The women's team finished third overall and the men's team placed fifth in the Cougars' first time racing in the event. Brady (22:15.1) finished 12th overall and the women's squad registered 93 points (12-14-20-22-25) to place third, 30 points behind 12th-ranked Cal Baptist in the 6K event. CCAA rival Chico State, ranked fifth in the nation, took top honors with 41 points.On the men's side, Terris set a new personal-best of 25:07.6 to finish ninth overall, his second top-10 result of the season. The Cougars scored 115 points (9-13-21-33-39) to finish fifth in the 8K race, just four points behind Southern Oregon. Second-ranked Chico State placed five runners in the top-eight to win with 23 points.
