[Women's Cross Country] Wiesner Leads Warriors to 5th Place At Cal Pac Championship

Comments

Fresno, Calif. – Senior Hannah Wiesner led the William Jessup University women's cross country team to a fifth place finish at the 2013 California Pacific Conference Championships at Woodward Park.

Simpson University took first place with 55 points followed by Soka University of America with 80 points.  Third place went to UC Merced with 84 points, while Embry Riddle University placed fourth with 88 points.  The Warriors scored 111 points to place fifth.

Wiesner was the Warriors top runner as she finished third with a time of 19:18.  Sophomore Allyson Richmond capped a great year with a time of 20:38 to finish in ninth place.  Senior Megan Crutchfield closed out her career by finishing 30th with a time of 22:22.  The future looks bright for the Warriors, as sophomore Miranda Keiser placed 33rd with a time of 22:31 and freshman Stephanie Arzon took 36th with a time of 22:43.

With a top seven finish, Wiesner earned All-Conference honors and advances to the 2013 NAIA National Championship in Lawrence, KS on November 23rd

Coach Parker Daniells was excited about how strong the women's team finished the year.

"The Women's team peaked at the perfect time to compete at Conference and I am very happy with how each and every single one of them raced. It was the first time all season that the Women's team raced as a team and it shows in their results. The conference had great competition on the women's side and was very difficult to compete in. The girls had a faster team time, average and spread than last year and we got 5th overall. These girls have overcome a lot of obstacles this year together and I am very proud of how they have responded to those obstacles and keeping Christ the center."

This was the Warriors last California Pacific Conference Championship race as they transition into the Golden State Athletic Conference in 2014-15.
