[Track & Field] Warriors Take Part in UC Davis OpenPublished by
Davis, Calif. – The William Jessup University track and field team challenged the top NCAA teams in the region as they took part in the University of California-Davis Open on a beautiful Saturday. The women's team had a great showing, highlighted by Kylie Stevens who finished 16th in the 100 meter with a time of 14.21. Stevens also finished 28th in the 200 meter with a time of 31.38. Freshman Allyson Richmond finished 17th in the 800 meter with a time of 2:36.78. Christina Malek finished right behind Richmond with a time of 2:37.93. Senior Hanna Wiesner led the Warriors in the 1500 meter with a time of 5:31.11, which placed her in 28th place. Finishing right behind Wiesner was Alyssa Amack (5:32.87), Christina Malek (5:34.93) and Allyson Richmond (5:34.99). On the men's side, Freshman Michael Basuini had the strongest race, by finishing 6th in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:56.60. Senior Ben Burchett was right behind Basuini with a time of 16:07.80. It was the opposite finish in the 1500 meter, as Burchett finished 27th with a time 4:21.85 and Basuini finished 29th with a time of 4:22.20. In the 800 meter, freshman Christian Wichmann led the Warriors with a time if 2:03.84. Fellow freshman Patrick Johnson finished in 29th place with a time of 2:13.27. Micah Hayes finished 24th in the 400 meter with a time of 55.81 and 36th in the 200 meter with a time of 24.16. Freshman Kenneth Parker had a strong showing in the long jump with a jump of 6.31, which placed him in 13th place. Parker finished 9th in the triple jump with a jump of 13.16 meters. Thomas Provenzano finished 12th in the 2000 meter steeple chase with a time of 7:43.83. The Warriors continue their season next week at the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State University.
