Both Cross Country Teams Finish ThirdPublished by
Competing on Saturday for the first time in three weeks, Westmont men's and women's cross country each claimed third place at the Vanguard Invitational.
The women tallied 59 points compared to 27 point for Biola who won the team competition and 47 for second place Azusa Pacific. Point Loma Nazarene took fourth place with 125 points while the hosts finished fifth with 142 points.
Westmont's Jessica Meyers, who finished in ninth place in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 18:11, was Westmont's top finisher. Eleven seconds later, Piper Bian claimed tenth place for the Warriors. Corinne Cherne and Alexandria Adams finished thirteenth and fourteenth in times of 18:24 and 18:25 respectively. Amber Collier concluded the Warriors' scoring with an eighteenth place finish in a time of 18:36.
In the men's 8,000 meters, Evan Bradford posted a fourth place finish in a time of 25:31 to lead the Warriors into a third place tie with Biola. Vanguard won the men's race with a total of 77 points while Azusa Pacific claimed second with 89 points. Biola and Westmont each scored 107 points.
