[Cross Country] Smith, Weisner Lead Warriors at Santa Clara Invite

Santa Clara, Calif. – Seniors Wayne Smith and Hannah Weisner led the Warrior Cross Country teams at the 2013 Santa Clara Invitational on Saturday morning.

Weisner finished ninth with a time of 23:28 in the 6k open division.  Sophomore Allyson Richmond was the Warriors second best runner on the morning with a time of 25:12, which placed her 42nd. Stephanie Arzon finished 76th with a time of 27:31, while Megan Crutchfield finished 78th with a time of 27:37.

The Lady Warriors finished thirteenth out of seventeen teams.  Fresno Pacific University took first place, while Cal State East Bay finished second.

On the men's side, the Warriors finished sixth out of seventeen teams. Academy of the Arts took first place. 

Smith led the Warriors with a sixth place finish as he ran the 8K race in 25:55.  Five spots behind Smith was sophomore Michael Basuini with had a time of 26:07.  Fellow Sophomore Christian Wichmann finished 30th with a time of 26:44, while senior David Cummings finished 55th with a time of 27:31.

This was the last Warriors regular season meet, as they set their sights on the California Pacific Conference Championship.  The Cal Pac Championship will take place on Nov. 4th in Fresno.  The Men's team is looking for a three-peat, while the women's team looks to improve on their second place finish in last year's championship meet.
