[Track & Field] Good Night For Warriors at Chico State Twilight Invitational

Chico, Calif. – The men and woman's went out with a fight at the Chico Twilight Invitational held on Friday and Saturday evening under the stadium lights.

On Friday night, senior Thomas Provenzano finished in 11th place in the Mens 3 kilometer steeple chase earning a time of 11:44.50. Following the steeple chase was the men's 5000 meter run. Freshman Michael Basuini led the way for the warriors finishing in 5th place with a personal record of 15:41.02. Following behind Basuini in 27th place was senior Benjamin Burchett finishing with a 15:56.00. These concluded the results for the Warriors on Friday night.

On Saturday evening Junior Micah Hayes competed in both the 200 and 400 meter dash.  Hayes finished in 6th place in the 200 with a time of 24.18 and in 3rd place in the 400 with a solid time of 53.25. Freshman Christian Wichmann competed in the 800 meter run finishing in fifth, with a time of 2.00.62, just missing a personal record.

Freshman Kenneth Parker competed in the men's triple jump placing 3rd with a jump of 13.13 meters.

The distance men had astounding performance in the 1500 meter run. Freshman Patrick Johnson finished in 7th place with a personal recrd of 4:16.63. Shadowing behind Johnson in 8th place was junior David Cummings racking in a 4:17.01. Senior Bentley Nunes came in hard with a solid 4:20.46.

For the women's side, in the 200 meter dash, senior Christina Leon placed 5th with a time f 29.04. Junior Emily Fernandez followed with a time of 30.45. Leon also competed in the 400 meter run placing first in her heat with a time of 1:03.45.

Freshman Allyson Richmond and junior Christina Malek both competed in the 800 meter dash. Richmond finished in 6th place with a time of 2:30.49 and Malek followed in 7th with a time of 2:32.72. Sophomore Hannah Weisner and Junior Melissa Copley took part in the 1500 meter run. Weisner led the Warriors to the finish line with a final time of 5:07.70. Copley followed in 5th place with a final time of 5:21.53.
