[Track & Field] Warriors Close Out Track Season at Sacramento State OpenPublished by
Sacramento, Calif. – On a windy afternoon, the William Jessup University track and field team closed out the season at the Sacramento State Open at Hornet Stadium. Senior Gabby Leon closed out a great career by finishing fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 1:02.33 and sixth in the 200 meter with a time of 27.80. Junior Emily Fernandez finished seventh in the 100 meter with a time of 13.89. Sophomore Lauren Young finished seventh in the 200 meter with a time of 26.65 and eighth in the 100 meter with a time of 14.08. Hannah Wiesner led the Warriors in the 1500 meter with a tenth place finish (4:55.11), while Alyssa Amack followed in the fifteenth place with a time of 5:25.93. Dallas Butterfield was right behind Amack with a time of 5:29.30. Freshman Allyson Richmond ran a 2:27.49 in the 800 meter for 9th place. On the men's side, freshman Michael Basuini had the top finish of the day as he ran to a fourth place finish in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:41.11. Senior Ben Burchett finished two spots behind Basuini with a time of 17:38.25. Micah Hays had a strong showing in the 200 and 400 meter race. Hayes finished thirteenth in the 200 meter with a 23.50 and sixth in the 400 meter with a time of 53.22. Freshman Christian Wichmann finished sixth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:00.48. Thomas Provenzano ran a 12:19.87 in the 3000 meter steep chase, which placed him in sixth place. In the 1500 meter, Wayne Smith finished ninth with a time of 4:14.79, while freshman Patrick Johnson followed right behind Smith with a time of 4:14.90.
