Davis, Calif. – The William Jessup University track and field team headed over the causeway to take part in the prestigious Woody Wilson Classic at UC Davis on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors fared well in against a tough field of competitors.

Junior Emily Fernandez had the top finish for the Lady Warriors as she took fifth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.78.  Kylie Stevens finished right behind Fernandez with a time of 14:02, while Lauren Young trailed Stevens with a time of 14:12.  Fernandez finished the 200 meter in 18^th place with a time of 29:20.  Young edged Stevens for 19^th place with a time of 29.69.  Senior Gabby Leon had a strong 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.08 to finish 7^th.

On the men's side, Freshman Michael Basuini led the Warriors in the 5000 meter race with a time of 16:12.88 to finish in 4^th place.  Senior Ben Burchett trailed right behind Basuini for a 5^th place finish with a time of 16:14.96.  Micah Hays finished in 19^th place in the 200 meters with a time of 23.83 and 23^rd in the 400 meter with a time of 52.77.  Freshman triple jumper Kenneth Parker finished in 6^th place with a jump of 13.18m. Thomas Provenzano finished 7^th in the 3000 meter steeple chase with a time of 11:51.43.

The Warriors return to action next Saturday at the Sacramento State Open.
